the Facebook generations

I joined Facebook few months back, and I really don't know why!! I've been hit by this FB bug and would find myself logging in almost every day or at least make it a point to be online every once in a while. It’s really amazing how I catch up most of my old buddies and relatives here on FB, connections is the keyword here. Facebook indeed is a social utility that connects people.

Most of my online FB friends consists of different age groups, the distant relatives, friends of friends, co-workers, college buddies, secret crush and even our very own uncles and aunties (grannies soon to join this bandwagon, imagine how cool it would be!!). Today, FB is not only for those in their teens, I've seen people over 40s who are totally into it as much as school/college students. It transcends age, cultural and professional boundaries; you can be friends with anyone as long as you get their consent or being crazy enough to send them an invite :-). The rise of the urban keyboard trotting warriors.
And the amount of time we spend online varies, some would spend less than 1 hour daily while others would spend hours on FB and it's applications like Farmville, Mafia wars and brushing up certain skills like how to get night vision on mafia wars, or tend your own farms on Farmville etc. But a note of caution, one should be mature enough where to draw the line, too much of everything is never advisable. There is indeed a time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3)

While most of us would be online in the comforts of our home (thank God they blocked FB in the office!!) , some would even take it further and take great pains to be online even in the work place, fiddling on the mobile during crucial client meetings!! counter-productive isn't it??
Most of my online FB friends, i know them personally, some are friends of friends, some I am yet to meet them (hope it happens in this life.. he he ).I just presumed that whomever I shared more than thirty or more common friends is worth knowing, hence the request invite follows.

Who knows, so many of this present generations are so into FB that it wouldn't be long before we start to include our FB friends on our prayer list. Just adding "
Lord I also pray for my FB friends, please be with them and keep them from harm!!" how cool would that be, wonder what God Himself would think about this!

How is this wonder called FB developed: In a nutshell, FB is developed using three basic languages, (you know that they have coined their own language specifically for FB out there in Palo Alto, California.). See Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook

1.
FBML- Facebook markup language, a modified version of HTML (hypertext markup language), nothing much if you already know the basic fundas of HTML except that FBML is more fancy as each interaction starts and ends with a tag fb.
2.
FQL - Facebook query language, very similar to SQL(structured query language), that allows applications to directly query Facebook internal data tables. Pretty much the same fundas as Select, Update and Delete statements in SQL.
3. FJSP - Facebook JSP, again a modified version of Java Server Pages, that language used for designing web pages. If you are already familiar with JSP, then you will pick it up quickly.

I am on FB mainly because we run a lot of social media campaigns for many of our clients as this is becoming one of the most popular platforms in the world. A perfect place to start brand awareness and product advertisement.

Other than that, I abstain from any of those FB games like Mafia Wars, Farmville etc coz I already spend so much time on blogs, twitter and and other sites... :( Wish I had more time. Wish there was 70 hours in a day!

  2. @illusionaire, thanks for stopping by,
true indeed. for some of us all these online activities are more of than a part of our daily life , more out of necessity on how we earn our living. In the above context, esp. for some students, it's more than an addiction where they find it so hard where to draw the line
