how fast is too fast

"Can you control your bike at 60 km/hr?
W
hat if someone suddenly cut in or some animal
crosses the road?"

Dr. K quipped as I rushed to his clinic for emergency
first aid & a shot of painkiller for the bike accident
I had just been in!!Well,
that was already few months
away; but this one pertinent question still lingers on
my mind whenever i'm driving. Yelp it's true, the
more I thought of it, the more
I see the wisdom in
those words...

Anyone who have worked in a hazardous industries
like steel,oil,chemicals etc.
would've easily testified
how strictly we adhere to those safety standards
being
dictated and they were carried out without
any question; wherein safety is not a
matter of
choice, it is followed religiously which otherwise
the headcount would've
been much higher....

Safety tag lines like

"Be safe, your family needs you!!"
"Safety first!!"

"If it cannot be done safely, it need
not be done in unsafe way!!"

The keyword here is SAFETY , and when you take
care of yourself first, then only
you can take care
of your family. Some questions worth asking
yourself whenever
you are tempted to zoom past
other motorists, switching lanes as in your
favorite
action movies, the thrill of overtaking
others and watching them slowly disappear
from
you as you zoom past them ...
Well then is the appropriate time to think about

those tag lines once again.

Here are few scenarios :
1) be it 50 km/hr or 75 km/hr or more, will you
be able to control your bike/car
if suddenly
something unexpected happens. Not that i have
mellowed down, but
in hindsight it's worth
asking yourself this question every once in a
while.

2) it's never worth it - once you have had
experienced being in an accident or
have seen a
number of accident victims, it's never worth the
risk considering
that searing pain and all the
time it takes for an accident wound to heal.

3) don't be in a hurry - i still remember the
day i got my first bike and someone
close to
me say "mang, don't be in a hurry". A bit funny
and sissy at that time
but as the years passed
on, i certainly see the wisdom in those words

So, for the sake of yourself, your soul, your
close circle of friends and family and even for
those
generations that you would brought forth...
hehe!!! It's always to be safe than sorry.

Nobody can determine how fast you should
go, you decide.

Thanks

analysis of the World Cup final 2010

This world cup final 2010 has been a memorable one, one for that my team didn't lift the trophy, but the best team on that day won. This particular game will be remembered for a few reasons listed below -

the kungfu kick
- the Nigel De Jong kungfu kick
on Alonso which would have been the envy of
even a 3rd Dan Black Belt kungfu master. Alonso, tough as he may be (as all Liverpool players), may end up with a few broken ribs. But this guy played on , such is the dedication of the Spanish players to the greater cause of the team.

the Arjen Robben misses
- you don't expect to miss a sure goal chance like that two times and still expect to win a World Cup, my apologies Mr Arjen, it just doesn't work that way in spite of all your theatrics & gesticulations.

the Cesc Fabregas wonder- till the final Cesc has been playing not more than a total of 90 minutes in the previous matches. Fortune came in the form of extra-time where he finally get his one chance and he repaid that trust with that magnificent pass to Iniesta. Otherwise the headline almost says "so far yet so far away" is the Spanish coach Del Bosque listening, the world cup trophy was nearly the dream you would never had....u nearly waste that creative talent and the final gamble paid off handsomely.

the disappointment
- Almost everyone was expecting a penalty shootout, bad timing indeed to score just 5 minutes to go. It should have gone to the penalty shootout, then at least the losing fans will get some consolation but this result is bitter sweet disappointment to many of us. I wouldn't even want the Organjes to score in the dying minutes, but that's the way it is

Son of the soil: the Facebook generations

the Facebook generations

I joined Facebook few months back, and I really don't know why!! I've been hit by this FB bug and would find myself logging in almost every day or at least make it a point to be online every once in a while. It’s really amazing how I catch up most of my old buddies and relatives here on FB, connections is the keyword here. Facebook indeed is a social utility that connects people.

Most of my online FB friends consists of different age groups, the distant relatives, friends of friends, co-workers, college buddies, secret crush and even our very own uncles and aunties (grannies soon to join this bandwagon, imagine how cool it would be!!). Today, FB is not only for those in their teens, I've seen people over 40s who are totally into it as much as school/college students. It transcends age, cultural and professional boundaries; you can be friends with anyone as long as you get their consent or being crazy enough to send them an invite :-). The rise of the urban keyboard trotting warriors.
And the amount of time we spend online varies, some would spend less than 1 hour daily while others would spend hours on FB and it's applications like Farmville, Mafia wars and brushing up certain skills like how to get night vision on mafia wars, or tend your own farms on Farmville etc. But a note of caution, one should be mature enough where to draw the line, too much of everything is never advisable. There is indeed a time for everything (Ecclesiastes 3)

While most of us would be online in the comforts of our home (thank God they blocked FB in the office!!) , some would even take it further and take great pains to be online even in the work place, fiddling on the mobile during crucial client meetings!! counter-productive isn't it??
Most of my online FB friends, i know them personally, some are friends of friends, some I am yet to meet them (hope it happens in this life.. he he ).I just presumed that whomever I shared more than thirty or more common friends is worth knowing, hence the request invite follows.

Who knows, so many of this present generations are so into FB that it wouldn't be long before we start to include our FB friends on our prayer list. Just adding "
Lord I also pray for my FB friends, please be with them and keep them from harm!!" how cool would that be, wonder what God Himself would think about this!

How is this wonder called FB developed: In a nutshell, FB is developed using three basic languages, (you know that they have coined their own language specifically for FB out there in Palo Alto, California.). See Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook

1.
FBML- Facebook markup language, a modified version of HTML (hypertext markup language), nothing much if you already know the basic fundas of HTML except that FBML is more fancy as each interaction starts and ends with a tag fb.
2.
FQL - Facebook query language, very similar to SQL(structured query language), that allows applications to directly query Facebook internal data tables. Pretty much the same fundas as Select, Update and Delete statements in SQL.
3. FJSP - Facebook JSP, again a modified version of Java Server Pages, that language used for designing web pages. If you are already familiar with JSP, then you will pick it up quickly.

Resolution making makes no sense

Resolution is something that is the outcome of  decision making. Many of us are addicted to making a resolution every once in a while- be it new year resolution or the outcome of getting high.. I've decided not to have any new year resolution this new year " a  no resolution is still better than a resolution not kept". Still my wish list contains a long list, some of them are-
  1.  A fit abdomen(abs) : Aim for the sky and you would reach at least somewhere above the ground. I'll tell you a secret, maybe by the end of this year, i would love to see those a six-pack abs or at least a two-pack abs every time i do a la Salman Khan...ahems( i think you get it). There is this funny thing about your abs muscles, they are so stubborn that they wouldn't budge or at least i keep on having this funny feeling that they are pushing to come out more!! Not to mention that I've been playing high-intensity badminton almost everyday for the past two years but still....                                Am still gonna keep on fighting this lone battle grrrr...
  2. Shed a few pounds : Name one person in your office/family/circle of friends who is not overweight? (this is a difficult one, can we move on to the next question!!)       This is a cause of concern for almost everyone in this generation, maybe it has something to do with our lifestyle and this fast-paced life doesn't help where we have time for everything else other than ourselves. Few years back,a pot-belly is for someone who are in the age group of at least over 35s or 40s, someone who is settled and having two or more kids.                                                                         Coming back to this generation, it wouldn't be surprising to find somebody in his/her 20s but already sporting a pot-belly, terrifying indeed!! On a personal level, it  would be great to shed around 2-3 kgs (realistic enough) by the end of April this year, still more than 80 days to go, am working on it, it doesn't help that i am a rice eater, rice and more rice... Eat enough and burn those calories - that's my mantra.
  3. Read more : Somewhere down the line, I've lost that connection with my one pastime -reading books, my daily reading is restricted to reading on-line articles and newspapers. Reading good books enrich our knowledge, and complements whatever knowledge we already have. With TataSky and internet on the other side, it's a continual struggle to find the time to read after office hours. This definitely has to be revived again, maybe finish one book in two weeks or a month. You know, that thrill and suspense you get when you read novels is no way comparable to the one you get when you watch movies, same with reading an inspiring biography. You have that sense of being enlightened to a certain degree when you finish a good book. A long lost habit which the present generation of youngsters give a damn.
the wish list goes on....
